My name is Shauna-Lee and I am a self-taught artist who resides in Grande Prairie Alberta. Though I work in a variety of mediums like paint and sculpting, my primary work currently is an “oddities” creator. There is a lot of by-products that comes from death, and I try to work to up-cycle that. Taking something that would normally result in an “ewww” reaction into a “oooo” reaction. For example, all my insects were either natural sheds, or pulled out of vehicle grills; rather than perfect bugs that were specifically harvested and preserved for art collectors. Nothing I use was killed for the purpose of art, all just by product of farming, trap lines, or roadkill. Not only an oddities creator but I also do hunting Euro mounts as well as pet memorial. I’ve always had a deep love of animals, and my work is to honour and eternalize the piece, from living into death. I do all my own preservation, so I handle the pieces from start to finish. Each piece is unique and I can’t usually guarantee a duplicate because I never know what I will have in stock. Please always ask the story of where I got an item I’m happy to share about it! I put a lot of time and love in every piece I do, and I know their homes love them just as much as I doI raise show rabbits and cavies, so proceeds from my work all go back into the living animals and more art supplies.
